Yupp! We know. Finally, we decided to head into the city center for some shopping. Weather was nice and children in a reasonably joyful mood, so we hoped to manage a couple of shops before the nuisance started. Our usual weapon to counter the bad mood: blackmailing (“no ipad…”) or bribing. For bribing, ice cream always works. For me, the best ice cream in town (well in the city to be more exact) is offered by L’Italiana Gelateria in the Europapassage, exit Mönkebergstrasse, for expensive but unbeaten creamy, delicious, Italian 1,20 EUR (well, they take German Euros, too). I next to always come back to Whiskey Creme (heaven, I tell you!) and my offspring decided for dark chocolate (no much adventure loving here) and Kiba (from the drink – a mix of cherry and banana juice). Both, absolutely lovely (was allowed to taste both!).
What else can you do with other children in the city center when it so freezing cold outside? Taking a barge and drive on the Alster for example. Either cheap with HVV, or with tour guide on a href=”http://www.alstertouristik.de/” Alster cruise barge. Both from Jungfernstieg. However, using HVV is absolutely sufficient especially with young children. Step out at Winterhuder Fähranleger and take bus line 6 back to the Town Hall. My children will find both, the barge and bus travel, always super great.
