We are heading into a beautiful autumn weekend with an extra day off! October will be the last month to fully enjoy outdoor activities without dressing like an inuit. This weekend we chose to explore the climbing tracks of Hoga Hochseilgarten in Geesthacht, some 25 minutes drive from the center. It is supposed to be one of Germany’s biggest and offers a huge parcour with 25 tracks for children between 6 and 12. My niece and nephew have been their with grandpa and they loved it! This kind of activity is not only great fun and entertainment but is also a booster to your child’s confidence when it mastered the difficult trails. My son grew 10cm on just that day (we did the “Kletterwald Hamburg” earlier this year – see my post on that).

I don’t have a specific recommendation for lunch or dinner or cake in this neighbourhood, but maybe some of you have and would share? Best to just drive down to the Elbe bank. There are many promising restaurants located at the promenade and there is also a big playground.

If you are not in a hurry, this trip may be a perfect opportunity to drive through the rural and beautiful Four Lands (Vierlande). Just get off the motorway at Moorfleet and drive through the Water Park Dove Elbe and then all the way (more or less streight ahead) to Geesthacht, taking the Ochsenwerder Vorderdeich as guidance. It is a beautiful trip!
