Climbing playground at Altona Volkspark

With bigger children into the forest? To a playground? Such an idea of mommy does not anymore lead to cries of joy and enthusiasm with my kids. But I would not be supermom (as we all are) if I did not have an ace up my sleeve: a trip to the People’s Park in Altona. The “little brother” of the Stadtpark in Winterhude (actually it is bigger!), always kind of played a underpart in the apprehension of Hamburg’s citizens. In fact, it is really woth the visit focus. Similar to the city park, there are also themed worlds and now is the time to enjoy asters in full blossom at the school garden or hundreds of dahlias in the historic dhalia garden (the latter is at the corner Stadionstrasse / Luruper Road). Best to start here and then walk the enchanted paths direction north to the playground. Unlike in the Stadtpark, where you can see that it had been landscaped, the People’s Park is more elemental. The playground is around the Spielberg, crowned by a huge tower with a demanding boulder installation that invites for climbing without rope and harness. Especially the lower parts can be tried by non-trained survival children. Then there is a giant slide, tthe popular net swing, ropes and bars to balance and a large double ropeway. And of course, smaller slides, swings and climbing castles.
