The Trappenkamp Event Forest is always – and with any weather – worth the visit. 45 minutes drive to the north and you can expect a great (really great) playground, a large cowboy fort, enchanted forest paths with elves and a deer park. And in summer you can rent little huts for BBQs.
This weekend one of the best events is hold: the battle of Suentana that took place in this neighborhood (Saxons fought against Slavs) 798 AD, is re-enacted with great passion and attention to detail. 200 actors join in! This promises to be a huge spectacle. The show starts at 2:00 pm, but you can explore everything all day. Fighting techniques will be shown and the large army camp can be explored and of course there is a medieval market.
I hope I get my hubby persuaded that he goes there with us.
