Boberger Lake and the big sand dune
A tip for the weekend

What you easily forget, is, that going East Hamburg quickly becomes really rural. Once over the Elbe bridges and back and you are in no time at the Boberger lake. Whether on foot, by bike or with bollerwagen, the trail around the lake can be mastered by all ages. On the north shore of the lake there is a sandy beach. The quality of the water is bathing quality and you can enjoy a swim, or just dabble – depending on your skills. To the east of the lake there is the Boberger dune that transfers with just a bit of imagination to Denmark and invites you to sand slides. After ranting around I recommend to pay the bistro of Frollein Lotte a visit to fill up energy levels. She is located at Bill Werder Billdeich 256 and offers delicious snacks or homemade cakes and whilst sitting in the beautifully renovated old farm house you can just let your mind wander. The cafe is wonderful vintage-like decorated and still in walking distance of lake and dune. A little further is the S-Bahn Billwerder.
