Sewing is one of the coolest crafting skills. I attended a sewing class during my first pregnancy, which saved me a lot of money. I am immune to cute little outfits on etsy, I make them myself, ha!

You can’t sew? Your kid wants to learn how to sew? No big deal, Rosi will teach you. Fashion designer Rosi Baetz is the founder of the first sewing school in St.Pauli. Girl or boy, no matter, only the motives differ.

She will show you how to use a sewing machine or a serger. You and your kid can get a diploma for the basic course. After this beginners course you can proceed to the projects for more experienced crafter. Handling patterns, designing your own clothes and upcycle and refashion used textiles will be just some of the techniques you learn.

The basic course is a great opportunity to attend a course with your kid together. Essential condition: your child must be 8 years old and able to reach pedal of the sewing machine with its foot. The beginners course for children is called “erste Stiche” (“first stitches”). Kids start with handsitching and make small projects at the sewing machine, like small bags, dolls, doll clothing and more.

Rosis bright and spacious studio is located at the Rindermarkthalle, a shopping mall in St.Pauli. Courses are scheduled in the evening and weekends, check them out here: Kursübersicht.

Patterns, fabrics and special techniques will be tought at four workspaces.
