Planten un Blomen

Now that is finally real winter it feels right to go out skating on ice. We have a big skating arena in Planten un Blomen which I can recommend. They have renovated quite a bit and the shoes one can rent are relatively new. They play pop music and renew the ice every once a while. My children loved it. There is also a separated area on one end which is big enough to allow proper skating with beginners or smaller kids and you can rent cute penguins as skating support. Easy to reach with bus 112. You need a tip where to warm up afterwards? In the museum right next to the arena, the Museum of Hamburg History, is the Café Fees, which transports you to some mediterranean place with its palm trees and decorative lamps. It is spacy and allows the children to run around a little and they offer fresh waffles, which are really good.
